EFFECTIVE BODY LANGUAGE IN CLASSROOM
EFFECTIVE BODY LANGUAGE IN CLASSROOM
Before we proceed I would like you to remember your favorite Teacher….who is that…. Feel Relax and remember… Do not simply recall the name but think about the teacher
“ Your FAVOURITE Teacher”.
Now May I ask you why He or She is your favorite teacher
Is it because they -- taught you the favourite subject, --- they were lenient to your home work?...
What is the particular reason you specially recall these teachers over other. Well the answer is very simple
There simple smile and an approving nod gives you a great sense of encouragement. These teachers did not used a blackboard and a book in hand to teach in class. They are confident and well prepared today what they want to present...
Generally it is teacher’s Body Language that greatly contributes to the impact they have on us.
So, teachers. A body language of teachers too plays an important role when they are teaching. Let us first understand that what the body language exactly is.....
BODY LANGUAGE
It is a non-vital, yet powerful form of communication that every individuals denotes via his/her gesture, attitude or facial expressions.
Basically our positive or negative response are not on to the spoken words of individual but we reach to that person's body language. This same principal applied to Teachers and students relationship also in classroom.
You know…7% is that speaking which impact to students .
38% is the way Teachers use there voice, tone, pitch..etc and
55% is the Body Language means your way of Teaching.
A Teachers body language impact a strong long lasting impression on students. It is the body language of the teacher that that will often dictate the presence and the students will respond accordingly.
Body Language on the other hand, will almost always be taken at face value. Hence it plays a Positive role not only in classroom teaching but allso in haping character too.
And Now here is a short list that a teacher can use BODY LANGUAGE to build a great rapport with students…
• BODY POSTURE :
This being the first impression of the teacher , it should be very appealing, Walking tall, with body erect and shoulders straight, it gives confidence which eventually helps to be an effective leader. Because for a student it counts a lot the way you enter into class. Your confidence will automatically boom the student to wish you and believe me they must be waiting for you.
• EYE TALK
“Eyes are the windows of the soul”
Looking straight to the students eye creates a positive relationship between them. Teachers can especially maintain a good eye-contact while emphasizing on an important topic.
Eyes can give much information about the thoughts running inside a person's mind. Looking to the left and down while talking signifies that the speaker is either recollecting facts or loosing the confidence.
• FACIAL EXPRESSION
This one is easy SMILE (As it costs nothing …rather improves face value) Smile a gently makes the communication easier and more persuasive.(winning). It’s a mood changer and will evoke warm feeling in both students and you.
• VOICE MODULATION
Teachers can produce a variety of vocal intonations while presenting topic. For Ex. Loud and soft (pitch) voice can be used while explaining. Like "Big and Small" , "Above nad Below", "In and Out", "Inside and Outside"
Tell Me and I Forget
Teach Me and I may Remember
So the last part of saying…
Involve Me and I Learn
Will definitely produce well-deserved goodwill between student and Teacher.
Thanks…..
